Re-Installed ESXi 6.5.0 and Reconnected iSCSI Target Doesnt Show DataStore

Hi There,

I had to re-install a standalone ESXi host as the root password was lost.

I've reconfigured it and reconnected the iSCSI target however having scanned the target no datastores are showing.

I can't see any option to manually mount, so I assume it should automatically just mount when its found.

The iSCSI is showing as connected under the Adapters tab, but no datastores show up.

If I try to create a new datastore it doesnt give the iSCSI target as an option either, only the local storage.

Am I missing something obvious?

Only to rule this out.

How are initiators configured on the storage system?

Did you update the host's iSCSI IQN on the storage system, if this is what the storage system uses for the initiator identification?

In case that has been done, do the LUNs show up in the ESXi host's GUI when you select the iSCSI adapter?

If you are ensured about the ESXi host settings (vmhba, Authentication, VMK port, and target address) then it may be related to specifying a method for the iSCSI inititor on the iSCSI target system. (IP, DNS, MAC, IQN). If you assigned IQN name of your vmhba in the iSCSI target, please check it again Smiley Happy

Hi Andre, the iSCSI target is configured without security and will accept connections from anything, its as basic as possible (this is in an off network development environment).

When I go to the Adapters page I can add the iSCSI target and it says connected, but I don't see the datastore.

When I go to the Adapters page I can add the iSCSI target and it says connected, but I don't see the datastore.

That's why I'm asking for the LUN presentation. The connection to the target is one thing, but access to a LUN needs to be granted to a specified host (i.e. its initiator).
