Questions that have plagued me for months DX11Shimops:4962

First of all, forgive me for using translation software to ask questions because I can't speak English. I'm sorry.

Go straight to the theme:

Problem Description: After hanging up, all windows are jammed, or the screen, including random black and fast UI disappearance in the game, is like a memory crash (sometimes half a day, one day, two days, four days, more than a week is rare, sometimes a few hours, half an hour, or a few minutes after hanging up). The hangup window only opens to about 78 viewers. GPUZ display memory and other data are normal task managers to see that CPU memory, display memory and graphics card load are more than half of the remaining space, so it is impossible to have the problem of insufficient hardware configuration. In my other older machine, the number of multiple windows is as low as that of the problem machine, and the same number of hang-up games is as fast as the full load and hang-out for several months. Now this kind of problem!! The difference is that the old machine is the VM10 version of Intel CPU Win7 Physical Machine, the new machine is the latest VM15-15.5 version of AMD CPU Win10 Physical Machine.

Virtual Machine Usage: Open more games and hang up games for old 2-D games (2-D class should not eat any video card memory)

======================================= Problematic new machine information

CPU: AMD3700X 8 Core 16 Threads

Memory: Chi Fantasy Halo 3200 16G*3 = 48G

Hard Disk: Solid 500G

Video Card: Video Chip RTX2060 will be 6G

Physical Machine System: Win10x64 1903

Virtual Machine System: Win7x64 Professional Edition (Original Pure Edition)

VM version: I tried it from VM10-VM15-VM15.5 (VM10 is the direct way to uninstall the display memory when the game runs, increasing the V15-15.5 display memory constantly, normal non-overlapping will uninstall the display memory according to how much the environment around the game loads)

======================================= Problem-free Old Machine Information

CPU: Intel I7-2600K 4 Core 8 Threads

Memory: Kingston 8G*3 = 24G

Hard Disk: Solid 500G

Video Card: Yinchi 660TI 2G

Physical Machine System: Win7x64 Flagship Edition

Virtual Machine System: Win7x64 Professional Edition (Original Pure Edition)

VM version: VM10

=======================================

The virtual machine system of the two machines - configuration - Game - software is all the same in the same number of multiple windows. This problem will occur in the new machine. I have tried to change the software compatibility and hardware compatibility of the virtual machine. The graphics driver that AMD-V has been on has also been upgraded to the latest and reinstalled. Anyway, I can think of it. I have tried or can't find the reason now. I wonder if it's the reason why AMD's new CPU doesn't support VM well, and I can't find the same level U of Intel's to test it now. The most distressing part of this problem is that the time of the problem is completely random and the number of games must be open to hang up. So I have to reload the system/game/software/various configurations every time I test it, and it's been on the verge of collapse for several months. Thank you for your official advice.

Hi SHAOHUACG,

We reported a similar bug for this "DX11Shimops:4962'' issue which has resolved in WS 15.5.0. So could u upgrade your WS to latest version and have a try again?

Thanks

Also could u upload the VMware logs to below ftp site and let me know the folder name? Thanks

FTP Server: ftpsite.vmware.com

User:   inbound

Pwd:    inbound

Port:   21

We have resolved a similar crash bug in WS 15.5. but from your description, you seemed having tried WS 15.5 but still has this issue. So it might be another issue. Please send me the VMware logs to further check.

And what's your graphic card model? Is it Nvidia RTX 2060 Ti? And could u disable 3D in vm setting and see if this issue could go away? Thanks

Hello, respectful official staff, I'm glad to hear from you patiently. Some of your replies are as follows:

1. I have tried to update Win10 to 1903, VM to the latest version 15.5. As you said, 15.5 may have solved this error. The previous "DX11Shimops: 4962" bullet window did not appear again, but the new and more serious problem came. The crash may occur several hours or a day before. In 15.5 version, game pictures will appear one after another in less than 20 minutes. The difference this time is that instead of "DX11Shimops: 4962" bullet window error, it keeps the card dead, which is the most impressive difference I've made in trying different VM versions.

2. My image card model is: Nvidia RTX 20606G

3. I can't disable 3D acceleration, otherwise the game application can't enter at all. I need to use the 3D acceleration function, otherwise it's meaningless.

4. With regard to error-reporting logs, due to my negligence and ignorance, the system and VM clones have been re-installed many times, which may cause the logs to be overwritten and disappeared. I need to re-simulate such problems, and upload the logs to the FTP server after generating the logs.

=========================

Finally, it is worth mentioning that I have now forcibly installed the win7x64 physical machine on the AMD_3 CPU + X470 motherboard (you know the new product officially no longer supports win7) and then the VM continues to use the old version of V10. Magical things happen. Previous errors have not occurred, windows have not been blocked, has been tested for two days, the first day in the evening when the host automatically restarted. What happened once or again? Maybe I'm not sure why some of the physical drivers are not fully installed or incompatible. I'm not sure that there has been any error or crash since the test was run again. (I'm sure that the current situation is different from any previous attempt, and it feels like it's going to be successful.) But I'll keep watching, and I'll keep feeding back the official results. Thank you very much! Smiley Wink

Sorry,  need to confirm for following details because the translation is not clear enough.

===Test ENV with No issue=========

WS version: WS 15.5

Host OS: Win7

Guest OS: Win10

Mother board: AMD_3 CPU + X470

Graphic cards: Nvidia RTX 2060 Ti

If changing above Host OS  to Win10, the vmx will crash every few hours or days.  Please correct me freely if any misunderstanding. Thanks

==No problem environment test=========

WS Version: WS 10.0.1

Host operating system: win7 x64

Guest Operating System: Win7 x64

Main board: CPU AMD3700X + X470

Video card: NVIDIA RTX 2060 without TI

These are my latest test results, that is, the host and guest operating systems all use win7, WS uses the old 10, crash has not yet occurred.

-----------------------------------------------------------

As you said, if you change the host operating system to win10_1903, WS uses 15.5,the crash will occur in a few hours or days.

=======================================================================================================  Here is the untranslated

Thanks for your immediate feedback.

How about if testing win7 Host and Guest with WS 15.5 instead of WS 10.0? I'd like to confirm if this issue is related to the OS version or the WS version.

Besides, it's better to have VMware logs for a check. Thanks:)

As for the use of WS15.5 in the case of win7 hosts and win7 guests, I tried it on the other old I7-2600K hosts, which would cause the virtual game to get stuck or blue screen, and it would happen immediately in 20 minutes!

This AMD3700X host has not yet attempted to use WS15.5 for win7 hosts and guests,Because the current error has been alleviated (temporarily).

I will upload and inform you of the log generated in the next error report. Thank you.

Got it, thanks. So it looks like WS 15.5 related issue.

Have u updated the vm tools to the bundled one? How about if using the old vmtools, will issue go away?

In any case, I did not install VM tools because it would be blocked by game detection. Of course, after many mistakes, I installed VM tools in WS15.5, but it did not improve. I didn't pay special attention to the VM tools version. Smiley Happy
