SRM initial replication

About to setup SRM for our organization utilizing vSphere replication as the replication engine (initially). Now our network pipe between the Prod and DR datacenters isn't that big. I am worried about the initial replication (first seed) so I was wondering if it is possible to export the VMs as ova/ovf, store them in an external drive, ship to DR and then import them to the DR environment and then have SRM/vSphere Replication take care of subsequent replication. Well vSphere Replication will do the replication and SRM will be orchestrator.

You can seed with vSphere Replication. The link below already states this.

Replicating Virtual Machines Using Replication Seeds

In DR you can add them to the SRM orchestration. This is possible.
