windows 10 high cpu explorer.exe after shutdown vmware player free

I have a strange problem with my vmware player free 12.5.9.

After every shutdown of the virtual machine the explorer.exe shows a verry high cpu usage on the host machine and this one grinds to a halt.

does anyone have a solution or heard of this before

Do you have a security program and the files in the folder are checked before you open them?

Or it scans when files come and go?

i am using only windows defender on regular settings.

ok i think i have found the problem, its a problem with a external usb hard drive.

as soon as i unplug this drive the problem dissapears.

I wiped the drive, and it now seems fine.

I will have a look for the next few days to see if it stays good.
