vSphereDataProtection-6.1.11 deployment fails at 2%

Hello,

I am having trouble deploying vSphereDataProtection-6.1.11 to vSphere 6.5 environment.

Have managed to solve old certificate problem by converting ova file with ovftool,

but still deploying fails at 2% with error:

Transfer failed: IO error during transfer of 'null': java.net.SocketTimeoutException.

I am using FQDN to access vCenter, vCenter certificates are loaded to Windows store, so https is secure.

VDP has been dead for some time, so it makes no sense to install it fresh when it's EoL. I'd recommend finding a better, more robust, and modern data protection offering out there.

Yes, its old, yes it`s dead, but it`s free, we would like to use it until we buy a commercial product.

There are plenty of modern and free products out there without resorting to using this.

What would you recommend?

Veeam has a Community Edition which is free and it's very good. There are others, of course, but this tends to be what I see most often.
