Dynamic Environment Manager 9.9 has been released

We're happy to announce that Dynamic Environment Manager 9.9 has been released. The name of the product changed with the 9.9 release from VMware User Environment Manager to VMware Dynamic Environment Manager.

This name change should not affect existing deployments in any way, and upgrades work exactly the same as for previous releases. Note that there are no functional changes in the optional tools (Application Profiler, Helpdesk Support Tool, and SyncTool), so if you're sufficiently current (see the release notes for details), there's no immediate need to upgrade those.

The main product contains the following new features:

20190921: Removed description and attachment for diagnostics settings, as KB articles have now been updated.

Smiley Happy my mistake. Maybe you could tcan get DEMmgr to get AppvolMgr and HorizonMger to get appvoldev and horizondev  working to do what you do here:smileygrin:. Those products pale in the community support I see here.I

So THAT's why I cannot get anything from My.VMware.com this morning....

I'm kinda surprised that in this day and age, outages are acceptable during product releases.

I mean the Apple Store was down for a full day, why not My.VMware.com's Product download section.

The site is temporarily Inaccessible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

The VMware Team

I WANT my Dynamic Environment Manager 9.9 download.

(UPDATE)   I GOT IT!   https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/details?downloadGroup=DEM-990&productId=924&rPId=36982

Really cool new feature, reducing the amount of groups we need to filter for company and org unit memberships.

I like 🙂

Hi Tim,

Happy to hear that!

Just for my understanding (remember that I'm a software developer and not an IT admin Smiley Happy), you mean that this simplifies targeting DEM settings because the "audiences" can more easily be defined by AD attributes than groups and OUs?

Hey DEMdev

right, before my customers needed to create multiple synthetic groups, just for applying uem (I'll stick to uem for at least a year, as I'm also still confusing horizon and view all the time   ) settings based on the company, office locations etc.

Now we can use the already used ad attributes and can reduce the management overhead for putting the users in the right groups.

As I said, great addition to the product. Carry on the good work!

I currently have UEM 9.8, and it my first deployment.  The most i've done was just to get 9.8 installed and deploy 1 or 2 desktops to see how it works. So there are minimal changes to it and any config files.  I downloaded DEM 9.9 and going through installing that and replacing 9.8?

Should I delete the VMware UEM *.admx and VMware UEM *.adml files?

HPU-ADM,

Yes you do, otherwise you'll get errors when opening the GPO's. Don't worry about your existing settings, they will remain in the new files, but under a different name.

Michiel.

Regards, Michiel.
