I have a Windows 10 VM. It got into a bad state and I restored to a previous snapshot.
However, I want a copy of the bad state (which is also saved as a snapshot), so that it can be examined.
I can save the current state as snapshot and restore the bad state. How do I then export that to a separate VM (a copy) that can be imported elsewhere?
Thanks.
Hello,
Try to clone it after you restore the bad state. then revert back to the normal one.
And you can do what you want with the Cloned VM.
Thank you. I'm using VMware Fusion 10.1.6. Where do I find the option to clone?

Hello,
for fusion please check the below: VMware Knowledge Base
Hi,
The steps are:
Alternatively you could use my backup software (Vimalin, see my signature) to create a backup of your VM and restore it back in exactly the same state as it was at the time of backup.
For this particular functionality you can do so with the free license of Vimalin.

Hi,
Oh.. I had to check that, but apparently it is only a feature in the Professional version of VMware Fusion.
