After installing a HP ESXi 6.7u2 image from VMWare, Update Manager still shows 6.7 complete update 1 & 2 as missing?

I have vCenter 6.7 U2b installed, and just updated an ESXi host in my  cluster to 6.7u2 using the HP custom images off the vmware site.  After I finished the upgrade to 6.7u2(13006603), VMWare Update Manager rescans still shows ESXi 6.7 Complete Update 1 and Complete Update 2 as missing.  We always try to keep VMWare as stable as possible, but should I also run these recommended VMWare critical and non-critical updates on top of the HP customized image?  I am wondering if I am just seeing those because I have the HP customized image, and possibly better to stick on just that image for stability concerns.

I called this into VMWare support and they went through the list of updates that were pending("missing") and compared them to my version.  They said none of those updates are needed and that it was an issue with 6.7u2 reporting that should be fixed in u3.  I am not sure how accurate all that is, but that is what they told me.

My confidence level with VMWare support was not 100% on this one as I started asking, should I apply this? when looking at other additional updates that were also showing. and she just kept saying "no", but I think she was putting me on mute and asking someone else.  I think the basic message was I did not need to apply any additional updates for the HP customized 6.7u2 image yet, but she was not reconciling each one and obviously at some point that has to change.

If anyone else reads this and has a better suggestion/method for applying vmware updates on top of the VMWare HP 6.7u2 customized image let me know.  Currently, I am thinking that we might just wait until next year and then upgrade with the latest HP customized image then(after it has been released for several weeks), and hopefully it only shows the needed additional vmware updates.

I have always applied updates to the custom Dell image. Never had a problem until recently.

I am having the same issue as OP.

I have vCenter 6.7 U3 running on Windows and on the host (DL380 G9) i have the ESXi 6.7.0 U2 custom HPE image .
However on the host compliance view inside vCetner it states that ESXi 6.7 Complete Update 2 is missing from the host.
