I installed Workstation Player 15 on my new desktop computer running Windows 10 64bit. I want to run a virtual desktop with my old laptop which runs Windows 7 32bit. I thinks I created a Windows 7 file by installing the Windows 7CD. I then connect the laptop hard drive to desktop via a USB connection, Windows 10 sees the drive but cannot access the information on the drive to I guess copy to the Virtual drive I created.
Please help,
Jack Hurliman
Are you trying to run (a copy of) your old Win7 laptop as a virtual machine on your new Win10 desktop? If so, use the Free VMware Converter to convert the existing laptop into a VM on your new desktop, then run it.
so Player was the wrong program to use?
No, you need Player to run the virtual machine(s). But instead of installing the OS from scratch in a blank VM, Converter will convert an existing physical machine to a virtual one.
I was planning on returning the hard drive to the laptop to use as before....
Ok, let's back up here.
What is your intention - what's your end goal?
