Delete extra folders and files with the same name

Hi everyone,

Just reviewing  datastore files and came across something interesting, there are several folders with the same name+"_<number>" at the end, for example:

     vmNameFolder

     vmNameFolder_1

     vmNameFolder_2

     ....

     vmNameFolder_47

and so on, in this particular case, one of the folders has all the files of the Virtual Machines, but the rests of the folders have only a vmx file named "vmNane.vmx_hexanumber_hexanumber"

Something like this:

Haven't seen this, may I delete those "extra" folders without affecting the virtual machine?

I've seen this a couple of times, especially in VMware Horizon environments with automated pools.

If - for whatever reason - a file/folder cannot be deleted, new VMs will be created in folders with such extensions.

Such files/folders can usually be deleted without any impact on running VMs.
