VMware-player-15.1.0-13591040 and CloudReady-Home-v72.4-x64.ova install??

Can anyone help me get these installed?  I have successfully done it in the past ONCE.  Got lucky and it worked.  Suddenly started having serious mouse problems and uninstalled/removed both.  I am suspecting W10-64 1903 may have something to do with it.  So, I am not 'new at this', but certainly not experienced and it worked for so long, I really don't recall how I did it.

First thing I notice is Player doesn't appear to offer the installation of a .ova file.  I kinda remember it did, but I don't see it.  Anyway, I am starting with these two files on my desktop.  Neither one has even been clicked on yet.

ANY help is appreciated in advance, even if it 'just gets me started'.

Thank you again .. in advance.

PS:  The Player file seems to be a 32-bit product.  The ova is 64 bit as well as my laptop.  I don't know if that is a good thing, bad thing, or doesn't matter.  The download of Player did not offer an option of either architecture .. specifically.

As mentioned, it should be possible to import an OVA from the File -> Open menu.

Re: the 32/64-bit question.  The Player/Workstation UI is 32-bit.  The services, drivers, virtual machine monitor, etc. are all 64-bit.  You MUST have a 64-bit OS to install/run Player > version 6, Workstation > version 10.

You want to Import a virtual machine if you have an ova file.  If Player doesn't have anything built-in, you can download and use the free VMware Converter; but I think Player does have an option to import from an ova.  However, your mileage may vary.  Check back here for problems you encounter.

I don't use VMware Player v15 myself, but in earlier version you were able to import an OVA from the File -> Open menu. There select the Open Virtual Machine file type from the drop-down menu.

Thank you very much for the quick reply..Based on a lot of searching, I must conclude Player 15.1.0-13591040 will not process an ova pkg/file.  There is no option to import either.  I installed VMware vCenter Converter Standalone it shows no interest in an ova file either.

Seems the only thing I can do is download cloudready-usb-maker which 'makes' a thumb drive an install device ... but it will  only install to an entire hard drive partition.  I do not want to do that.  I want to run it from within VM Player.

Hard to believe I did this before and can't remember how I did it.  Unless someone else can help, I will have to go to cloudready support ... which is practically nonexistent.  Thank you again.

Here is the problem.  I am getting old and senile.  Oh, .. and obsolete info on the 'net.  Several 'places' distinctly say NO OVA for Player.  Guess that was outdated stuff but it did lead me to not even try File/Open.  If OVA can't be used, why try to open it?  Right?

File, open the ova, worked perfectly, and overall, it is very easy now to do in the future.  I can only sincerely thank everyone for the help.
