VMware UEM Error - FlexEngine.dll library file. Please check your installation.

Hi All,

I have installed different versions (8.7 & 9.3) of the UEM agent, and recomposed the pool in Horizon.

After logging onto the VDI I receive a UEM error (as below):

The same group policies are applied to a different pool's OU and all works normal.

Any ideas at all on this error, I am unable to find anything obvious online.

Hi PaulH76,

Please find attached a special build of FlexEngine.exe that shows more granular error messages w.r.t. failure to load FlexEngine.dll, and allows for retries.

You can just replace your existing FlexEngine.exe with this one (its version number (9.6.0.354) is lower than what shipped with 9.6 GA, but that's because this is not an official build.)

Also, in case you have upgraded to 9.7 or 9.8 in the meantime (given that it took me so long to get back to you... Smiley Sad), you can still use this test version, as there haven't been any changes to FlexEngine.exe in recent releases.

Thank you for testing.

Error 1168 is "ERROR_NOT_FOUND", which is strange for two reasons: you previously indicated that the file exists, and the "real" file not found error (which I showed in one of the sample screenshots) has code 2...

Does retrying the failed action behave any different, or do you just get the same error again?

Hi PaulH76,

Thank you for testing that. The reason I asked you to retry was because you previously indicated that you did not experience the problem when running ProcMon, or when launching a command prompt into the VE, so I was wondering whether the problem might be related to timing.

On that note: when the error message appears, could you try running that cmd.exe /appvve:PackageGUID_VersionGUID from a while ago, and once the command prompt appears, clicking the Wiederholen button in FlexEngine's error dialog?

ok, my mistake or misunderstanding. when the error appears i can't open the cmd with appv parameter. nothing happens. it does not matter if build or debug version of Flex Engine. But when i open the cmd with parameter before i start the App-V Application and leave it opened i cannot reproduce the error.

Hi PaulH76,

After encountering the error and clicking it away (in either the released or debug version), can you successfully launch the profile archive export "manually", by running the

"C:\Program Files\Immidio\Flex Profiles\FlexEngine.exe" -v- -ua -i ... -s ... ... /appvve:...

command that is logged as part of the Launching FlexEngine.exe for App-V 5 export ('...') log message?

Does that correctly export the settings of your App-V app?

Yes, lauching the export manually is working.
