NSX-T; North-South without using Tier appliance

Hello,

In NSX-V, documentation only talks about using an ESG for N/S traffic, but it DLR can move traffic in all directions, E/W, and N/S, without the need of an ESG, however, I couldn't do this in NSX-T, so, is there a work around in NSX-T to accomplish this? ... Making this the only way for VMs to communicate with the world makes this a fatal weakness point from my point of view in NSX-T.

In NSX-T, ingress/egress to/from the physical world is done through edges that run a service instance of a T0 router. L2 Bridging used to be through ESXi hosts, but this is being deprecated. What about this design is a fatal weakness?

Hi, what do you mean by "being deprecated" please? that in future releases we wont need T0 appliance for N/S traffic like in NSX-V?

If I don't use tenants, why would I need my traffic to thru an edge appliance to get to the physical network? (Disregard the services of an edge). That's why I find it non-meaningful, and yes fatal as NSX-V here has an advantage, but, the future is for NSX-T I know

I mean deprecation as far as esxi bridging is concerned. And regardless of whether you use tenants, you probably have stateful services. Those functions cannot be distributed and so instead must be centralized. That point of centralization is on an edge appliance.

Thank you, and I understand the stateful and stateless services provided by edges. Howevee, this wasn't my question, so, could you please answer my question? Nit to use edges at all like in NSX for NS traffic, is it doable or not doable?

Thanks for you coooeration
