Is there a way to install VMWare tools in a windows 10 virtual machine that is running under Workstation Player in Ubuntu

I get a pop up whenever starting the virtual machine instance telling me to install vmware tools but the option to do so is always greyed out. I have tried creating a cd drive with auto detect on as mentioned in some help material on the topic but that has not changed the issue.

Is this feature unavailable in my OS environment?

Welcome to the Community,

assuming that the VMware Tools binaries/ISO images have been installed with VMware Workstation Player, you may want to check whether the correct operating system - "Windows 10" in your case - is configured in the VM's settings. The VMware Tools image that's used is based on this setting.
