Hello Forum,
I'm working with VMware Workstation 9.
I use the bridged network adapter to connect my VMs to the same network as the host system. If I monitor with tcpdump the traffic within one of the VM, I can see the traffic of the other VMs too. So I'm guessing vmnet0 is not a real switch like in the picture from the link? How can I separate the traffic? Will a Workstation Update help?
Thanks
Martin
Nope - the vmnet0 is not a switch - it is a hub.
You can set
ethernet0.noPromisc = "true"
in the vmx-file - that will make the vmnet0 to act more like a switch.
On a Linux host you must be root to launch a VM with that parameter.

Hi,
The bridge behaves like a hub...
No, an update will not fix this part.
It addresses other areas such as a number of security issues though.

Thanks, it worked
The traffic from the other machines is now hidden.
