License for NSX-V to NSX-T

Hi. We are currently on NSX-V v2.35 and we know its old and will be upgrading soon. We are considering moving to NSX-T for the FQDN whitelist, it doesn't appear any version of NSX-V has it.

Are the NSX-V licenses compatible with NSX-T? Or this really like an entire new product we need to license, etc. Thanks,,,

Yes, a license covers "NSX Datacenter" can be applied to V or T. There is no specific license for one versus the other.

Hi,

They are the same license. You can use them for either one up to your entitled amount. So if you have 100 sockets you can use either one or both up to a total of 100.

Further you can also check "Co-existence of NSX for vSphere and NSX-T (52809)" details related to where NSX for vSphere and NSX-T can co-exist in a customer datacenter:

Regards,

NKV
