Patching from ESXi 6.7u1 to 6.7u2

If I want to update a host from ESXi 6.7u1-10302608 to the latest ESXi 6.7u2-13981272...

Do I have to do "update-from-esxi6.7-6.7_update02" (13006603) first and then "ESXi670-201906002" (13981272)

or can I go straight to "ESXi670-201906002" (13981272)?

Hi,

You can go straight to 6.7u2.

Like Wil said, you can update the host directly to the latest build.

However, in case your host has been installed using a vendor customized ESXi image, you should use that vendor's latest 6.7U2 customized build to update the hosts.

Good point, but how did you know that we used a customized image?

Connect to the ESXi host and go to summary tab. You will see Configuration option in middle, this is tells to whether it is VMware image or customize image.

I understand that, I wanted to know how A.P knew I was using a customized image when I didn't say I was in the first place.

He didn't.

He just has a lot of experience and knows the things on what to look out for.

Don't worry, it was basically a guess, because most major vendors provide customized images which support their hardware.
