Looking For A Good Explanation On The Difference Between VMkernel and Hypervisor

I'm looking for a good explanation on the difference between VMkernel and Hypervisor.

Lots if you Google the 2 terms, I’ll offer up a simple explanation.

A hypervisor is a piece of software that runs virtual machines.

VMkernel is part operating system, part hypervisor - when you install ESXi on a server.
