I need this environment isolated though I'd like to have a shared folder on the Windows Virtual Machine I'm running, so I can move Malware Samples in and out of the guest VM without using VMware tools or other internet-dependant workarounds.
Everything I've found about mounting and creating shared drives between Guest/Host Operating Systems, says to install VMware tools. I don't want VMware tools on the machine though due to the fact that some Malware is written to not run if it detects VMware tools.
Does anyone know about how to do this? Host machine is Mac OS and the Virtual Machine is running Windows.
Hi, I think without VMware Tools the best option would be network sharing.
With OS X on the host side you should be able to utilize SMB sharing to mount a host directory to the guest OS.
The easiest approach that does not require any network connection at all is to use USB-sticks.
You could also use ISO-files. To read ISOs from the malwareVM you just assign the ISO as cd/dvd-drive. To write to ISOs stored on the MACOS host you configure a guests CD-drive so that it can be used as a CD/DVD writer.
