Manage/access ESXi Host from within Virtual Networking created on the host

Hi,

So I have setup ESXi host and gave it a static IP, I then gave my laptop a manual IP from the same range to access the web gui.

After getting into the web gui, i setup Windows Server 2016 as a DC with AD, DHCP and DNS running, created a domain/network and have Desktops joined to that domain/network.

All works fine, but now i dont want to have to connect to the host from my laptop that was directly connected to nic of the host, i want to access and manage ESXi from any browser on any desktop within my network/domain but i cannot reach the host's IP.

The hosts IP is within the same range of the Windows Server.

It seems the host's IP is on a completely separate network that is not contactable from the network/domain created within the ESXi. How do i make the Hosts ip be part of the Windows network so I can manage the host from that network?

Is this something to do with the networking section in esxi?

I appreciate any help given.

Thanks

Hi,

double check he configuration of management network adapters on your ESXi host. Pay attention to correct netmask and default gateway.

The configuration you're describing (DHCP server as VM on the host) is quite common and you should be able to access your ESXi from within that VM or from any other host within the same DHCP scope.
