vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage (Taken and passed in 2011)

Very quick question....

I have taken and passed the course above on 28th Jan 2011. What i would like to know, is if i can use this in any capacity to achieve my VCP in 6.5?

Courses are so dear now, i really would like to know if i can use this?

Either its vSphere 4 or 5 this course was taken for.

Thanks in advance.

I did in the past, but haven’t for many years now.

Happy to have helped, good luck for the rest of your journey.

The short answer is no.

Only vSphere 6.x classes qualify for VCP6-DCV, as per this page: VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP6-DCV)

For VCP6.5-DCV, the training has to be either 6.5 or 6.7, as per this page: VMware Certified Professional 6.5 - Data Center Virtualization (VCP6.5-DCV)

And for the latest VCP-DCV 2019, the training has to be on 6.7, as per this page: VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization 2019 (VCP-DCV 2019)

Thanks Scott

Can I take it for the appropriate version, at all, then upgrade, or will I still need the course for v 6.6?

My guess is that v5 is redundant now!

Exams for VCP5-DCV retired some time ago, and those for VCP6-DCV (on vSphere 6.0) and VCP6.5-DCV all expire at the end of August, so at this stage I’d suggest focusing on vSphere 6.7 training and the VCP-DCV 2019.

You don’t have to take the Install Configure Manage class though, if you’d prefer to do something at a higher level, the training options are on the link I posted earlier.

Hi Scott

Final question. Do you have to be a US resident to enrol on the Stanly educational courses.

Thanks for all. Much clearer for me now.

I don’t think so, but I’m not sure - best to get in touch with Stanly CC

Hello Scott

Firstly do you, or did you used to, lecture courses in the UK?

Just to let you know i am well on the way now to achieving my VCP-DCV. Enrolled and started the Stanly course, and progress is going very well. Looks like i will complete before the official end date in early Oct. Hopefully get by the foundation exam before December 2019, and then the VCP in early 2020.

Bought the Mastering VSphere 6.7 book also, as i like to have reference material to scan over in my spare time.

Really just wanted to say thank you for all the information given. It was invaluable to me, to getting my vm education back on track.

Thanks again
