Log in host failure

Hello, Expert,

I reset  root password remotely. for ESXI 6.5.

Now, if I like to log in the host or connect to the host, I have to log in  vCenter appliance to enable host ssh service, then I can log in the host by web client.

As far as I know I can log in the host(connect with the host) freely before changing the root password.

what action did I lose?

brgds.

Hi Liu Wei,

Can you check the port of your vcenter , please check are you able to browse your vcenter on 9443 or not .

follow the below steps :

Go to Vcenter select host ( lia-hs02 ) > configuration > security  profile , now check in SSH server setting whether is allow to communicate with any ip address or set of ip address on following ports 9443 , 80 ,  22 (port 22 is for SSH ).

or

Remove host ( lia-hs02 ) from Vcenter and then add .It will pop-up you if any ports are not proper communicating  also it will redirect the agent also .

Hello, Rajiv,

vCenter server managed two hosts. lia-hs01 and lia-hs02. Lia-hs01 is able working well.

Problem is for lia-hs02.

if I like to log in lia-hs02. i have to log vcenter server to start SSH service and then I can log in.

Also, connect by putty refused, I have to start SSH service before connecting.

I am not sure what cause this problem. I only do the below:

on 08/07/2019, I reset vcenter server root password by putty.
