Administrator Account for VCenter

I am getting ready to upgrade my small group of esx 5.5 servers and our VCenter 5.5.

I've decided to install a new server esx 6.5 server and not upgrade anything.  So I will install a new version of VCenter 6.5 on this new server.  Then eventually upgrade the old servers into the new VCenter.  I am not concerned about losing performance information.

So my question is can I have two different VCenters running at the same time on different servers,  ver 5.5 and ver 6.5 ?

And more importantly can I use the admin account    administrator@vsphere.local   on both VCenter installs at the same time ?

I know others have said keep the default administrator@vsphere.local during install.

Also.  I don't even have SSO setup on my 5.5 install.  It's only me and I never really had the need.

Thank you.

Yes, you can use both the vCenter servers separate. The new VC should have the DNS records and you can either keep both the VC in same SSO domain or in different SSO domain. Depending on you business requirements.

OK. Thank you.

But can I skip the SSO portion of the install.   I don't think I need it integrating with Active Directory.

Or is this a bad idea overall?

Hi Morris,

Hope you are doinf well.

Yes, you can login in both vcenter's with administrator@vsphere.local, this is the default admin ID for all the vCenter's.

You can not skip the SSO part while installing the 6.5
