Workstation 15 Pro with Windows 10, bad refresh, not smooth

Hi everybody.

i use in my pc, Windows 10 and workstation with another windows 10, but isn't very smooth.

Before to install vmtools, was a lag, everywhere. Now this issue is solved, but for example, when i put up and down windows, animation isn't very smooth.

When i try to drag a window, animation isn't smooth, bottom line, with my pc, my expectation was an experience, like without virtualization, so same same.

My pc:

Intel® NUC NUC8i7HVK

CPU 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7

32 GB DDR4

RadeonTM RX Vega M GH Graphics

In bios is enable virtualitazion

here my setup in workstation ( in attachment )

Thanks to everyone

Hi,

You're not really telling us what processor you are using (intel i7 ... can be 20 different types and I'm not going to play mix and match with the speed to see if I can figure out which one it might be)

However assigning 6 cores to the VM might mean that you are starving the host from resources.

How about trying something more sane, like 2 cores.

If your CPU has 8 cores then you might go up to 4 cores.

Most of the times however, less is more.

in first thanks to reply,

number of processor: 2

number of cores per processor: 3

total processor cores: 6

this is my setup.

Still not what I recommended.

I recommend a total core count of 2 (without knowing what processor is in your NUC, I'm a bit conservative)

To clarify. If the above is what your physical processor has then you really are starving the host from resources.

Rule of thumb is to not assign more than half of the available cores to the VM.

Hi,

Unfortunately a thread is not really a core.

So in this case my recommendation stands as I suggested initially, 2 cores.

You can go up to 3 cores, but should leave 1 physical core free.

with every setup, all cores, half core etc, same result.

Virtual machine have a little bad refresh, local machine is good in every setup.

So i didn't understand how is possible have an experience in virtual, like in local.

Also an excel sheet, isn't smooth to scroll down or up for example.

In local, in the same time, is smooth
