Dell R240 and BCM5720

Hi,

I have a new DELL R240 with a BCM5720 and the latest version of vmware esxi 6.7u2 installed.

Actually I only get 100Mbit.

Switch and cable would already be changed.

Switching the driver from ntg3 to tg3 dosen't change anything

What is the configuration of physical switch port? Full Duplex + Auto Negotiate is the recommended config.

It is Full Duplex + Auto Negotiate.

The switch port shows 1GBit but in ESXi it shows only 100MBit

ok. the NIC BCM5720 is supported on ESXi 6.7 U2 and the driver you mentioned should work.

  • What is the version of driver?
  • Can you check the cable is plugged properly and the green led is blinking on both NIC as well as switch port ?
  • Also check ESXi vmkerenel logs for any errors / warnings related to the NIC.
  • Try forcing the speed and duplex manually. Please follow the steps in VMware Knowledge Base

    • can you see in the first post

    • cable checked and replaced
  • Also check ESXi vmkernel logs for any errors / warnings related to the NIC.
    • No error in the logs.

    • If I change this to 1000 Mbit and full, the network doesn't work

Actually DELL will replace the Networkboard.

Problem was solved.

We have changed the switch to a Netgear switch and 1000 Mbit is working.

Thanks for help.
