Windows 10 - Version 1903 - Freezing on Copying file

I'm having an issue with my VM - when I attempt copying a file, the Virtual Machine completely locks up, becomes corrupted and gets stuck on "Copying file 'filename' to virtual machine".

I have to reboot my host and only then can restart my VM. As soon as I attempt to copy another file - the VM locks up again.

This started happening last week after I've updated to Windows 10 Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.175).

The version of VMware Workstation I'm running is 12.5.9 build-7535481, but I found someone who is having the same problem on the latest version of Workstation 15.

Reinstalling VMware Workstation or re-adding the VM doesn't help.

Anyone has the same problem or knows a fix?

Not only this is not true, this also is absolutely unrelated to the discussion, so thanks for attempting to derail the thread.

Anyways, fixed the issue by upgrading to VMWare Workstation 15.1.0.

The VM no longer freezes when I copy-paste files from my host to the VM and doesn't show a black screen on bootup.

How do you copy the file exactly ?

Most reliable results can be acchieved using standard Windows fileshares.

I would not expect that Copy and paste works with WS 12 and Windows 10 - 1903

Just regular Ctrl+C on Windows Host and Ctrl+V to Ubuntu VM.

I also noticed that connecting a USB drive hangs up the VM.

Seems like the 1903 build really breaks a lot of things.

Luckily, I can still copy files with a shared folder, but I preferred the convenience of simply copy pasting data in and out.

Copy/paste between host and virtual machine is for text, not files.  Files use drag-n-drop...  or Shared Folders...  or standard network file sharing.
