Hello,
I am new to NSX-T but i understand the concepts as i have been working on NSX-V for quite some time now. I am planning to deploy a collapsed Edge and compute cluster. All hosts in the cluster have 4NICs. 2 NICs will be kept for VDS and 2 NICs for N-VDS. Could anyone point me to any deployment example like this where i can get to know from start how many transport zones i will have to create and how may N-VDS to be created while creating a host as transport node.
Also, i am planning to deploy Edges behind N-VDS and not behind VDS so any document for pre-requisite or steps would help?
Thanks,
Amit
I'd encourage you to start on page 46 of the VMware® NSX-T Reference Design as the edge and routing architectures in T are significantly different than NSX-V. Specifically, the N-VDS instances inside of an edge connect to a vDS so you'll effectively have both since the Geneve tunnel endpoint in NSX-T actually lives directly on the edge VM and not in the hypervisor like the VXLAN tunnels in NSX-V did.
Thank you for the design guide.
I have however gone through the design guide however it does not give design recommendation for collapsed compute and Edge cluster. It does give for collapsed Management and Edge cluster design.
N-VDS instances of an Edge can either be connected to port group backed by VDS or VLAN backed logical switches on N-VDS if it is to be deployed behind N-VDS in collapsed compute and edge cluster design. However i am not getting much details or documentation about it.

Thanks,
Amit
Hey Amit,
Did you ever get anywhere with this? I understand NSX-T Edge networking, however I'm struggling with the collapsed compute/edge.
Cheers,
James
What particularly are you struggling with? If you provide some concerns, perhaps we can help.
