error 0x800704b3

So VMWare has no support number for Fusion... you have tou wait up to 24hrs to get any response. Their customer service is so dumb, they don't know what else to say except for the prompts the company gives them. (had to vent for a minute) Unfortunately I bought their product and now I'm stuck. Anyone else did the upgrade and got the same error code 0x800704b3? Apparently we have to "fend" for ourselves as clients because $55 for an upgrade is not enough for them to have a tech issue department. Thanks in advance.

Out support number is 877-4VMWARE, (486-9273) always has been Smiley Wink

If you google 'call vmware support' this is what comes up (for me at least...):

If you click 'Get Support' from within the Fusion app, it takes you to this page:

Fusion Support, Training & Technical Documentation

Which at the very top you should be able to see our phone number as well:

When you call in, one of the first questions we ask is if this is for Fusion or Workstation so that it immediately routes you to the right place.

Anyway, regarding the error at hand... that looks like a Windows BSOD error code...

Could you help us help you better by sharing some detail about your setup, what you're trying to do and at what point you're getting stuck?

Well, I called that number 3 times and I have to create a "support ticket" and wait 24 hrs for a response... yay!!! that's GREAT technical support for a company like this... (not).

Anyway... Thank you for replying. I had Fusion 8 and was told by VMWare that I would need to upgrade it in order for the programs to run better. So I paid for the upgrade and after it was installed it gave the error message in the image attached. So I can't access my desktop or my files through Windows. I have to email it to myself in order to modify them. I tried turning network off and on but didn't help

Hi,

Not working for VMware, but for any VMware Shared Folders issue in windows the most likely way to get it resolved is following these notes:

These type of issues are almost always due to a broken VMware Tools install.

Do not try a repair install from within the Guest OS as it likely will not fix this, unfortunately the "Reinstall VMware Tools" from the drop down menu also falls in that same category.

You really need the guest OS to reboot inbetween uninstall and install to make sure that all the files from VMware Tools are in the correct locations and of the correct version.

In short follow these steps:

    Uninstall VMware Tools

    Reboot guest OS

    Install VMware Tools

    Reboot guest OS.

A bit of a longer description is:

In the guest Windows operating system, go to Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> Select VMware Tools -> Uninstall

Follow the steps from the installer to completely uninstall VMware Tools

    Reboot the guest OS.

Then from the Virtual Machine menu select "Install VMware Tools"

If no installer appears, go to the DVD-rom within windows and click "setup" (for 32 bits windows) or "setup64" (for 64 bits windows)

Once you see an installer, click "Next" until Finish, keep the defaults.

Reboot the guest when done installing (it will ask by itself to reboot)

Shared folders are not provided via an actual network share, which is why turning networking on/off will not help.

FWIW:

ERROR_NO_NET_OR_BAD_PATH

1203 (0x4B3)

The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist, or the network provider is not currently available. Please try retyping the path or contact your network administrator.

So remove, reboot, reinstall would be my first attempt at trying to fix this.
