Install old MAC OS new MAC OS

I have a late 2013 running MAC OS 10.14 Mojave and want to run MAC OS 10.6 Snow Leopard on this newer machine. It will not install on its own and have been told to use VMware.

#1. Can VMware do this ?

#2. Is there instructions on how to install VMware and set up to run Snow Leopard on Mojave ?

Hi,

It looks like the reason it will only run on 10.6 is because the software was written for the PowerPC platform.

Snow Leopard was the last version of OS X that included Rosetta, allowing you to run PowerPC applications on an intel machine.

The problem is getting a legal OS X Snow Leopard server license + install media.

I tried years ago and wasn't able to get it. Only managed to buy a normal Snow Leopard DVD via ebay - which was useless to me as I had that already.

There's a few threads on here about how you can get it from apple.

I don't think it is possible.. I tried several times via calling apple, but nobody could help me as the product is no longer available via apple, at least not in the EU.

edit: here's a previous discussion: Desperately need OS X Snow Leopard Server

Hi,

Yes you can, but only OS X 10.6 Server, not the desktop version.

It isn't until OS X 10.7 that apple allows you to install OS X desktop (also called client) as a virtual machine.

Re. tips to install. You install it like any other guest OS, but maybe this helps?

Thank you Wil.

I have 10.6 (not server) from the old days.

Will have to get a refund from VMWare

and will find another solution.
