what version of view agent is support in 7.0.1

we are running horizon 7.0.1 and have a requirement for virtual printing on a physical PC but don't get the option for virtual printer in view agent 7.4 and below.

I have been told that agent version 7.6 and above offers this which it does but now i am having issues connecting over a session.

Is agent 7.6 supported with horizon 7.0.1?

This has been discussed in threads like this one Horizon View Agent for Windows backward compatible?

Officially this is not supported but when the Connection server and Agent versions are similar you "May" have success getting it to work but that should be a temporary solution as you plan to upgrade your Horizon components so that they all match.

With the newer software being the Horizon Agent you could build a 'Test' master image with the 7.6 and see how it behaves with your 7.0.1 servers. Stressing that that should be a test before putting something like that in production. I would still highly recommend planning for upgrades of all components sooner than later.

Hope that helps

See my comment in the other thread. Any View Agent newer than 6.2 should work with connection servers 7.x. However, what's keeping you from upgrading to the latest 7.x release?

Hi,

good comment about upgrading we currently have 90% old zero client terminals that won't support a higher version of view so there is a piece of work to resolve that issue first.

Unless there is a way?

Are these Tera1 clients? We replaced ours years ago but I'm hearing they aren't working well with newer releases. It's time to replace as staying on an old Horizon build is a bad idea.

yes they are the terra1 firmware. we have a few 10zigs that work with a newer version.

I agree that we should upgrade but there seems to be some hesitation buying the new terminals.

I'd go with 10ZIG or Dell/Wyse ThinOS devices. We've tested both and been happy with them. Depending on the model they can do both Blast/PCoIP along with Citrix and RDP which provides a lot of flexibility.

got to agree the 10zigs are good. not used the most recent Wyse/dell terminals.
