How do I add a Cpu to a managed SQL sever in vcenter hosting the vcenter database

Does anyone know how to add cpus to a sql server which hosts the vcenter database

Environment

vCenter server

SQL hosting the vCenter database

If I shut down the SQL server to add cpus - I lose connectivity to the vCenter console so I can only add CPU's via the local esxi console.

As this server is managed by the vCenter , what will happen if I add CPUS this way? Will this screw things up once the  vCenter comes back online

I don't have hot add cpu enabled on the server and cannot change this setting until switched off - thus the chicken and egg scenario above.

Thanks ahead

Arthur

Hi

Launch a vsphere client directly to the host that you having the vCenter server VM and shutdown the VC and add CPU and power it ON.

And then once you have it back online again, migrate that old Windows-based vCenter to the vCenter Server Appliance and rejoice.
