Unable to add memory to VM

I have an ESXi cluster of six with a total memory pool of 1.12TB, sitting at 65% usage.

The problem is, when I try to add memory (hot or cold) to one particular VM, I get the error message "The available Memory resources in the parent resource pool are insufficient for the operation." I'm only trying to bump this guy from 4 to 8GB memory. I don't have this problem with any of the other servers. Would anyone have any ideas what causes this, or how to resolve it?  Also, may or may not be related, this same VM can't be cold booted from vSphere, I have to log onto the host to do it. Reboots work fine.

odd, have you any reservations on the vm? could be an issue with the vmx config or stale db info. Have you tried spinning up a new test vm, same resources as the original and attached the OS disk. See if it boots, then see if ram can be added.

No reservations for that VM. I can certainly try the test VM this weekend after hours, prod file server.

Hi

It is possible that you have a memory reservation. Right-click the VM and edit the settings, click resources, click memory and slide the reservation to 0.

Do you have HA enabled? How is Admission Control configured?

There is no reservation. The HA admissions are set to reserve for 1 host.
