No Network Adapter detected

Hello,

I tried to install The VMWare ESXi 6.7U2 using Virtualbox and on a bare metal hard drive. Both the time I received the same message.

I am new to VMWare ESXi and I want to prepare for the certification/examination.

Please guide me through it. I have also applied for 60 days trial version of the ESXi and downloaded the same.

I need the support as soon as possible so that I can take the benefit of 60 days trial and can utilize the system in a very well manner.

I have also seen the other posts in the knowledge base but I could hardly understand it.

Please specify the easy steps.

the output for the command

lspci -v | grep "Class 0200" -B 1 is

Network Controller Ethernet Controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc [AMD] PCFast 79C971

                    Class 0200: 1022:2000

Thanks a lot in advance for helping

Welcome to the Community,

you need to select a supported virtual network adapter for the ESXi VM (see e.g. https://medium.com/@zedr/setting-up-the-vsphere-hypervisor-on-virtualbox-78d401bcd581).

Don't worry about the 60-days evaluation period, it starts with the (successful) installation.

Thank you for such a kind help again.

Well, I have another situation too, installing the ESXi in bare metal hard drive.

I have a PC wherein I tried to install it directly on Hard disk and this time it's not VirtualBox the same error popped up. So, I again ran the command.

lspci -v | grep "Class 0200" -B 1

The output now it says is.

Network Controller Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller

          Class 0200: 10ec:8168

Please take a look at https://vibsdepot.v-front.de/wiki/index.php/Welcome to see how to create a custom installation image, with injected drivers for unsupported network adapters ( in this case it's most likely https://vibsdepot.v-front.de/wiki/index.php/Net55-r8168).

Greets!!

Lots of Gratitude for Solving my errors!

Well the network adapter error is now gone but When I try to install the entire operating system it gets installed successfully.

After Installation is complete I remove the USB and re-start it. Then after it displays the message No Operating system Found.

The BIOS Settings are:

1. Legacy Mode

2. First Priority HDD.

USB Settings:

1. Installed with Legacy Mode.

Hard Drive:

1. MBR Record also entire Hard drive is empty with single partition in it.

Please don't mind me asking, but are you sure that you've selected the HDD as the installation target (not the USB installation device itself)?

Yes!!

I had definitely selected the HDD as the installation disk. with the yellow mark on it.
