VCP-DCV 6.5 Question

Hello, I completed the ICM VMware 6.5 course through VMware IT Academy community college offering the course. Used the voucher provided to pass the 2V0-620 Foundations exam. I proceeded to take the 2V0-622 exam and pass that as well.  I just wanted to confirm that I have satisfied the requirements to considered VCP-DCV certified? Thank you in advance!

Sounds to me like you have.

Login to the Certification Manager and see what it says: VMware Certification

Email certification@vmware.com or talk to the VITA who you did your training with if there are issues.

Thank you for the response. I actually got a response back and they said that I needed to take the 2V0-622 PSE exam. I took the 2V0-622 certification. I am bit confused because it was my understanding that after completing the ICM 6.5 course and successfully passing the Foundations exam with the voucher then I would have satisfied the prerequisite to take the VCP-DCV exam. I did not receive a voucher for the VCP-DCV exam. Please advise?

Thank you,

Jason

A response back from who?

This thread on another forum has posts from Stanly, one of the most well-known VITAs: https://community.infosecinstitute.com/discussion/134773/stanly-community-college-it-academy-update

Even they were not clear whether you'd also need to do the PSE version of the VCP exam (as well as the Foundations exam)

I got a response back from the Certification representative from VMware. I reached out to Stanly Community College and they said that I should have satisfied the requirement for VCP. I am just trying to figure out how I can officially get my certification.

Hi Scott,

Can you explain us a little bit more what does it means "PSE version of the VCP".

I am on the same situation of JPort, in my case I attended the Fast Track 6.7 course on an physical classroom. The Academy (LearningTree) provided to us a Voucher pack for passing Foundation and VCP-DCV exam.

I took my Foundation 6 exam some weeks ago and I passed, now I am studying for passing the VCP-DCV 6.5 exam.

Therefore and according to VMWARE those are the prerequisites to gain a VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization 2019 (VCP-DCV 2019.

1. Gain experience with vSphere 6.x

2. Attend one of the required training courses

In my case, VMware vSphere: Fast Track [V6.7]

3. Pass One of the Foundation exams

In my case, vSphere 6 Foundations

4. Pass one of the Professional Data Center Virtualization Exams

In my case, VMware Certified Professional 6.5 - Data Center Virtualization exam

Thanks so much for your explanations about this topic.

I hope I'm not wasting my time studying for he VCP-DCV 6.5 exam.

R,

Hi again,

After contact to certification vmware support, they replied me this:

The PSE version is for the candidate who have completed the training course from the IT Academy Institute (College).

Therefore, for those one who take a classroom training VMware, the chain to follow for gain the VCP-DCV 2019, is as described on my previous email.

I hope is more clear now.

Regards,

You took the class with a VATC rather than a VITA - so the PSE exam does not have any relevance to you.

You would take the regular "non-PSE" versions of the exams.

I have asked one of my contacts to look at this situation, but have not had a response yet.

Hi JPort,

You can either take the PSE (the Academy version) or non PSE version (the normal commercial version) of the Foundations exam, but you must take the VCP PSE exam (the Academy version) to get credit for the academy course.

You can refer to the Academy certification documents at https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/certification/vmw-certification-up... .
