fews VMw 12.5 to VMw 15.0 not good ????

Hello

Before to pay the last VMware (V15) i would like to test this version to compare with V12.5

I work a lot on a VMWARE in Windows 7 made on my VMWare12.5

I have copied it and i clic to upgrade to VMWare V15.

I start it .... in Vmware V12.5 Compatiblity mode.... in the middle of the screen : waiting for connection ????? and nothing append

I try to create a new vmware ... windows7 based..... same "waiting for connection"

What is it ???

I work on elementary os V5.0 (last one)

in kernel ubutu : 4.15.0-44-generic

Thanks

To try another way :

I replace my SSD to an empty one.

- install on it the last version of Elementary OS : 5.0

4.15.0-48-generic

- create a user : user

- install vmware 15.04 :

user@user-Precision-7510:~/Téléchargements$ dir

VMware-Workstation-Full-15.0.4-12990004.x86_64.bundle

user@user-Precision-7510:~/Téléchargements$ sudo -s

root@user-Precision-7510:~/Téléchargements# chmod +x ./VMware-Workstation-Full-15.0.4-12990004.x86_64.bundle

root@user-Precision-7510:~/Téléchargements# ./VMware-*

Extracting VMware Installer...done.

same problem..... seem to work correctly only in root....

and there is now this :

root@user-Precision-7510:~/Téléchargements# vmware

Hi,

The libaio message is a common warning and can be ignored.

The dconf error I'm a bit less certain, but also think it is a red herring.

If it doesn't work for the user then it most likely would also not work for root. Dconf is used for storing gnome settings.

Is Elementary OS using a security framework such as SELinux? If so.. change it from enforcing mode to permissive mode.

re. support.

If you would buy support then the very first thing you are likely to hear from them is: "Elementary OS is not on our list of supported host operating systems"

So here is my 3rd (and last) time I ask for a support bundle.

You can create a support bundle from the help menu in your VMware Workstation, Help -> Support -> Collect Support Data

To resume situation :

At work i have another install elementary OS 5.0 to another ssd.

Fresh install every programs up to date.

Few error about vmware installation solved and now : no error during the start or the stop of it.

vmware seem to be restricted in user mode and finally not work

vmware is absolutly ok in root mode.

you ask me about reposity access :

By Vmware in user mode i have :

- created a repository : Wlla

if i look about acces right of this in this repository wlla :

user@user-Precision-7510:~/wlla$ ls -alh

drwxrwxrwx  3 user user 4,0K avril 25 15:17 'Windows 7 x64 (wlla)'

if i look about acces right of this in this windows7 x64 (wlla) :

user@user-Precision-7510:~/wlla/Windows 7 x64 (wlla)$ ls -alh

total 604K

drwxrwxrwx 2 user user 4,0K avril 25 15:38  .

@Is Elementary OS using a security framework such as SELinux? If so.. change it from enforcing mode to permissive mode.

Elementary OS Juno is based on Ubuntu 18.04 so some of the non-visual changes of 18.04 are also propagated to Juno.

i do :

user@user-Precision-7510:~/wlla/Windows 7 x64 (wlla)$ sestatus

SELinux status:                 disabled

Hi,

Sorry, crazy few days, so no time to react.

Looks like the support bundle logic isn't working for you in the gui.

Instead of running the support bundle from the menu, run the following to create the support bundle.

vmware-collect-host-support-info

It will take some time to complete.
