Hi vmk2014,
There are a number of good guides freely available on the internet. I've dropped a couple here:
If you go the basic route it is pretty much follow your nose so is there any particular part you are having trouble with?
Kind regards.
Hello,
Good video for vSphere HA: Enabling Basic Configuration For vCenter (HA) High Availability | vSphere - YouTube
In my opinion it is better to use VAMI based backup than vCenter HA.
Sorry for the delay in response. is it possible to upgrade vcsa 6.5u1 directly to vcsa6.7 ? or we need to upgradevcsa6.5u1 to 6.5u2 first?
yes that is a supported path - see VMware Product Interoperability Matrices
Also with the new 6.7u2 release its cleared up a lot of the previous "back in time" release issues as per VMware Knowledge Base
Can we configure HA while upgrading the VCSA 6.5U1 to VCSA 6.5U2? Can anyone share the steps for configuring HA and upgrade VCSA6.5 U2 simultaneously?
Thanks
vmk
Patch a vCenter High Availability Environment
This link shows how to patch a vcha environment, for example from U1 to U2, if you do go to 6.7 however vcha will have to be destroyed and reconfigured. There is pro's and cons's for doing that before patch as well potentially...
Thank you, but right now, HA is not yet configured. I'm planning to upgrade VCSA 6.5 U1 to VCSA 6.5 U2 first.
The links apply if HA is configured in VCSA.
thanks
vmk
you cannot configure vcha and patch at the same time - as mentioned, go to U2 then configure vcha
So when we have to patch? First upgrade to 6.5 U2 then patch ?
Some confusion here - and upgrade would be a jump to a major release, like 6.5 to 6.7 etc, you can use the command line or VAMI on the vcsa to patch it from 6.5u1 to 6.5u2 ( ensuring you have a valid back up )
Then do vcha.
Sorry, i'm not clear. Can you share the command for patching ?
