Windows 10 Linked clone pool Desktop stuck in Customizing status

I am trying to create Linked clone pool using Windows 10.

Through VC I can see that sysprep Customizing is succeeded, and Desktop have joined the domain too.

But in View Pool, it is showing as Customizing, and after waiting for long, it gets recreated again and same thing happen again.

Just for information, same View, VC and customization is working fine with Windows 7.

Any pointers for this ?

How many VMs are you trying to create?

"Cause

When a large desktop pool is provisioned, one or more virtual machines might end up in an Error state. The View Manager automatic recovery mechanism attempts to power on the failed virtual machine. If the virtual machine does not power on after a certain number of attempts, View Manager deletes the virtual machine."

Try a small amount of VMs & see what happen!

As earlier it was failing for 10 VM, now I am trying with only 1 VM.

And with 1 VM also it is the same behavior.

Are you using QuickPrep and Microsoft Sysprep? If Sysprep try QuickPrep & check the permissions for the user creating the pool with the location in the AD DC. Also, make sure you have enough space in the datastore. Try that!

I am using Microsoft Sysprep.

Also tried with Quickprep, the behavior is same.

I am using Administrator account to create pool.

And there is 2 TB free space in the data store.

Just to reiterate, this setup is fully functional windows 7 vm.

so is there any thing extra which we need to take care for Windows 10 ?

on further debugging I found out that I am getting the following error :

sysprep setupdigetclassdevs failed with error 0.

This is a single line error in error log.

I tried to search and found few links to resolve this, but still it is not working.

Btw my windows version is Enterprise and 1511.

It's possible for you to try to recompose the pools with Windows 10 Pro. Just to find out if it's the Enterprise version the problem, remember you need a Volume License for Windows 10 to work properly. Also, try to get the vSphere logs

I think its already asked but how are you licensing Windows 10. I had similar issue and it was due to Windows 10 desktops not able to communicate with the KMS server for licensing. Also, do you have other non VDI Windows 10 desktops in the environment activating with the same KMS server? The KMS server will need 25 Windows 10 desktops to request for license before it will actually start distributing license. So if the count has not been reached, the KMS server will not activate the desktops.

hi all,

the sollution is: you have to patch your operation sytem. Just Install all Security Patches and try it again.
