ovf file did not pass OVF specification conformance or virtual hardware compliance checks

Hi All,

I am trying to install a bluecoat product on the vmware workstation in the ovf format, however, I am getting an error upon opening the file that "the .ovf did not pass OVF specification conformance or virtual hardware compliance checks. Click Retry to relax OVF specification and virtual hardware compliance checks and try the import again, or click Cancel to cancel the import. If you retry the import, you might not be able to use the virtual machine in VMware Workstation."

When I retry and the vm finally starts installing, it says, "ERROR: Cannot find disks for persistent filesystems."

Can somebody please provide their assistance on this issue ?

Are you sure you try to import the OVF package on the same platform it was created for ?
You cant expect that an OVF created for version X also can be imported on version Y.
Anyway - if it fails just extract the tarball and create the VM yourself

I am having the same error on version Workstation Pro 15.0.4 -

I exported from the exact same instance.  When I try to import it on this same machine I get this error, or if I try to import on an another machine running the same version of workstation.

The thing is that the VM itself runs just fine, reboots just fine.  I just can't seem to export it then import it.

Now, just perhaps, if a person had any idea about what "did not pass OVF specification conformance or virtual hardware compliance checks"  means one might be able to determine what the problem is, but because this is an almost completely uninformative message we all might need some help on this one.

Any clue would be helpful.

> "did not pass OVF specification conformance or virtual hardware compliance checks"
This means that very likely the vmx-file has an unexpected entry.
So any troubleshooting should start with an inspection of the vmx-file.
