But with vCenter and Distributed Switches it is more simple to manage and configure multiple servers.
Without vCenter in your case, for each hosts/server you have to create standard switch with all port groups needed and configure these port groups.
yes you can create a single portgroup with four nics, but remember that this will not give you a 4GbE or 40GbE connection (dependent on your uplink connection) to your upstream switch, but rather 4 times whatever link speed, that means more machines can utilze the bandwidth, giving the impression of a larger pipe, but a single VM can never utilize more than the full speed of a single uplink.
Thanks for the reply, that is how I expected it to work. My core switch team was the ones that suggested doing this but they didn't know how to do it, and neither do I. What is the easiest way to do this with the client.
