Edit OS files when machine is OFF

Hello! I have a Windows 10 VM in which I would like to edit and parse files related to the Windows installation (for example editing a file on the Guest OS's Desktop folder), while the machine is shutdown. Is there a possible way to do using VMware ?

If the virtual machine is off (guest OS shut down, not just suspended) and Player interface is closed, then you can mount the virtual disk to the host as a drive.  Then you can edit/copy/whatever the files on that drive.  Unmount before trying to power the VM back on.
