vSphere 6.7u1 with SRM 8.1.1 install - no client plugin - issue

I have a new vSphere 6.7u1 environment with the vCenter 6.7 appliances setup with embedded PSCs link, per the recommendations for a SSO environment with multiple vCenters. I then installed SRM 8.1.1 in Windows 2016 (firewall disabled). After running the setup of SRM and connect it to the vCenter PSC and vCenter, SRM is up and running but the client plugin for SRM is not installed in the Web Console of vCenter. I have checked the package directory on the appliance on the srm package directory was not created in /etc/vmware/vsphere-client/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity. It looks like the plugin was not pushed. Is this a known issue? is there a way to manually install the client plugin? Any clues?

Are you using the flash web client or the HTML 5?

/etc/vmware/vsphere-client/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity is the path for the flash client

The correct path for the H5 client is /etc/vmware/vsphere-ui/vc-packages/vsphere-client-serenity/

However this is a moot point as the plugin is not registered in vc-packages as it is only a redirect to the html 5 server on the SRM server.

you should find traces of the redirect in:

/etc/vmware/vsphere-ui/cmCatalog/

/etc/vmware/vsphere-client/cmCatalog/

with a filename of:

com.vmware.cis.com.vmware.vcDr-name.zip

Also:

/etc/vmware-vpx/extensions/

with a folder:

com.vmware.vcDr-name.zip

and:

/etc/vmware-vpx/locale/

with a file:

/com.vmware.vcDr-name_catalog.zip

We can fix the icon in the webclient later; first try access the web server on the SRM box via the following URL and see if you can manage SRM:

https://<SRM server FQDN or IP>/dr/

It should redirect you to a login screen on the PSC then flip back to the SRM server and show you the GUI.

If that is working then we know that your SRM install is functional we can then sort out the plugin icon Smiley Happy

Let me know!
