Hi dewalter,

Welcome to communities.  Skyline has no cost.  As of now, it is available to customers with an active Production Support or Premier Services contract.

There are discussions regarding allowing Basic support contract users to register skyline in the pipeline. For other details regarding skyline please refer to VMware Knowledge Base

How do Skyline entitlements work if I have Basic Support for vSphere, but (because there's no other option) Production Support for vSAN (same cluster)? Does the vSAN support entitle me for Skyline for "just" vSAN-related features, or is it based purely on vSphere support status, or does it mean I get "the whole kit & kaboodle"?

Hi,

You can not buy production support only for vSAN. If you have production support entitlement, it should cover all Premise Products including vsphere and vSAN. Below is a document for your reference.

Unfortunately, that document seems to confirm that I can use Basic with vSphere and Production on vSAN, because it only excludes on-prem vSAN (in addition to NSX, etc)  from Basic.

Given that a customer can have non-co-term support for vSphere & vSAN, and Basic for vSAN was permitted until existing contracts expire, a renewal at this time could conceivably be for *only* vSAN, leading to this state: Basic for vSphere & Production for vSAN.

If there is some other documentation that indicates an “entire solution” must be on the same support level, that would be great, but the situation still obtains: is Skyline entitled?

Hi,

Please share your details using the link below, I will verify and update you shortly. Update 'NA' for collector ID if you have not deployed Skyline. Share your EA number, support contract details in the comments section.
