After reboot, vm doesn't boot anymore

Good afternoon,

I'm using Vmware Workstation 15 on W10 64bits.

On it i have one vm running on Manjaro. Everything was working perfectly fine. But i can't start it anymore.

At start up the following error message is displayed: "The VMware Tools power-on script did not run successfully in this virtual machine. If you have configured a custom power-on script in this virtual machine, make sure that it contains no errors. You can also submit a support request to report this issue."

Please find attached the log.

It looks like some files are missing. But i didn't touch to anyfile...

Thank you for you're help,

Nicolas

Please tell us what type of disk you use for A:
Selecting A: as a drivelleter is not a good idea - many programs will assume you are trying to open a document from a floppy drive.

A: is a 125go partition from a 500go SSD (Samsung 850 evo)

Just to rule out any obscure behaviour assign a regular driveletter - that is every free letter other than A and B

Please attach "Manjaro.vmdk" to your next reply.
That is supposed to be a small textfile ....

> DiskLib_GetStorageBlockSizes: Failed to get storage block sizes, The virtual disk requires a feature not supported by this program.
I am puzzled by that error message. Did you format the SSD in a "strange" way ?
Did you format the SSD with compressed NTFS ?
Would you mind and try the following ? :
In "manjaro.vmdk" delete the following lines:

ddb.geometry.cylinders = "16056"

ddb.geometry.heads = "255"

ddb.geometry.sectors = "63"

ddb.longContentID = "a5089ffc7ace19542fcd4c7abfe31b08"

ddb.toolsInstallType = "4"

ddb.toolsVersion = "10336"

ddb.uuid = "60 00 C2 97 fa e6 69 19-5c 61 98 5f 89 6a 1a f6"

ddb.virtualHWVersion = "16"

And then try to launch the VM again (create a backup  of the descriptorfile first)

What happens after the screenshot ? - does it hang forever ?
I would make an attempt and boot the VM without any networkcard

Yes, it hangs forever.

I will try to. Is it ok if i deactive my network card ?

Yes
by the way - I would suggest you boot into single user mode and run a filesystem check

Good afternoon,

I tried to boot with my network card deactive, nothing changed.

Otherwise when i go in text mode, i fill my credentials, press enter and it asks for it again...

Do you think it comes from Manjaro and not the vm ?

Anyway thank you for your help

If this VM worked without problems before then the following reasons may cause this problem:
- you changed something in the VM's config
- a minor corruption in the guests filesystem causes the TLP service to fail
Have you tried to assign a different type of networkcard - for example the vmxnet3 or the e1000e ?
If not - try that next.
If that does not help I would boot into a Manjaro LiveCD and try to repair the filesystem.
Did you change anything in the host's energy-management ?
