VM Start Problem After Update 6.0 to 6.7

Hello everyone.

I have using Esxi 6.0 for 2 years. I want update 6.0 to 6.7. I have downloaded update pack(VMware-ESXi-6.7.0-Update1-10302608-HPE-Gen9plus-670.U1.10.3.5.12-Oct2018.iso) and updated without any problem...

After that i do not use the Vmware vsphere client(Don't connect) and important for me any vms do not start. I have 4 vms but anyone do not start. When i try to start it says to me;

Hi huseyin06,

Could you run vdf -h from the ESXi shell and post the output here?

Also if you could retrieve the hostd.log file from /var/log/vmware and attach to the post that would be helpful.

Kind regards.

Seems that only these VMs have a problem...

I see an HA task.

Could you try to reconfigure HA on the hosts where the VMs reside?

Also, I would encourage you to re-register those VMs.

Hi,

Can you see (or do you know) if you are running unlocker? Try ls -l /bin/vmx to see if there is anything here.

Kind regards.

You see this piece?

/bin/vmx -> /unlocker/vmx

That means you've installed the unlocker "hack" designed to illegally circumvent protections put in place to prevent unauthorized running of MacOS on non-Apple hardware. As a result, we cannot help you with any of your issues here.

Hi there,

It is used to run MacOS. You are going to need to uninstall it so find the installer by running:

find . -name esxi-uninstall.sh

Then run the uninstaller to remove it. Your other VMs should now start.

Please don't advise people or post links to software that is designed to violate EULAs and copyright restrictions. The unlocker software is designed to do both of these things and we cannot be implicit in helping people violate the terms of use.

You can attempt to delete the unlocker software and see if that fixes it. If not, I'd advise you to back up any VMs and rebuild that ESXi host from a clean image and then from there to never install foreign packages.
