FAILED: An error occurred during the conversion: 'Partition number must be set for the boot volume'

Dears,

I am trying to convert p2v Linux redhat 5.5 with md software raid to VM but it fails at 97%, I am using latest vconverter 6.2.0 build-8466193

please help

Hi,

RAID is not supported. However the data has been cloned. You can reconfigure the VM manually. Boot from the installation iso in rescue mode, chroot, install grub and recreate the initrd image (see Re: Conversion fails with the error:FAILED: An error occurred during the conversion:'root is not fou...  for some more details)

Thank you Plamen, I will try the method you suggested however do you happen to know why vmware converter does not support md raid disks? Any reason why? Regards, Saad

IIRC some additional logic needed to be added in order to parse and map volumes to partitions in case of RAID. Somehow this didn't seem high enough priority.

I am still facing problems with grub boot loader since yesterday, trying different solutions? like mondo now,

Can you attach the log bundle from the conversion? It might give some ideas...

After several hours of trials and errors on the Grub boot loader, I managed to boot the system again.
