native driver not redirecting into horizon session - defaults to UPD

Like the title says, printer redirection works but the redirected printer defaults to using the UPD driver, not the NPD driver. I have tested with policy, printerredirection admx, setting enable to map the NPD with fallback to UPD - running the latest agent and client, ver. 7.7 and 4.4.  Anybody run into this and get it resolved, thanks@

just adding that i have installed the driver on the gold image and a note - if the account used when logging in has rights, it can change the printer to use the native driver

the goal here, to have the printer automatically do that instead of it defaulting to upd.  Thanks for any help or insight.
