So I have multiple vCenters under a single SSO. I can login to one and see all the others. I can also clone a VM from let's say VC1 to VC2 but it would not allow me to customize it during the cloning process. Error "the vcenter server is unable to decrypt passwords stored in the customization specification." I double and triple checked that the password for the admin login is there. I understand the VC can pass the password from VC1 to VC2. But why isn't VMware simply allow the user to pick the customization spec from the destination VC instead of source.
If any one has an idea to bypass this issue, I am all ears.
Regards,
It's because the decryption keys are different with each vCenter, so you need to choose the appropriate customization spec to ensure the right decryption key is used when storing passwords.
Understandable except VC doesn't give the option to pick the customization from the destination VC. Only source.
How do I go by achieving what you are mentioning?
