I'm running VMWare Workstation 15 and attempting to use performance counters inside the VM. While some counters come through, some do not. Specifically:
sudo perf stat -e r5101c4 -e r2005101c4 true Performance counter stats for 'true': 0 r5101c4 78,279 r2005101c4 0.000584271 seconds time elapsed
Unfortunately, I need access to the r5101c4 counter. I have booted directly into Ubuntu on my machine and can verify that it can access it with the same base ubuntu bionic install. At this point, best I can tell is that there's something using that counter on my Windows 10 host machine.
How do I go about determining what is using that counter? Is there any way to ask Windows directly to point me at the offending process?
