I am experiencing warnings in my event viewer every time I boot my PC.
I believe the HCMON service is from VMWare. Any suggestions how I can resolve the warnings would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
Thanks so much ale ale for your quickly answer... and for magic word "ASmedia".
My laptop model series, K55VM doesn't install ASmedia USB 3.0 drivers.
On the Asus download page for my laptop that package doesn't exists, only Intel xHCI drivers, but on the support web
for your series laptop, K55VD, it is.
I installed the ASmedia drivers and now Windows detect usb devices and VMWare can pass it to the guest OS
(Intel xhci drivers still removed)
Thanks again!
jmrobles, Good job!!!
i have a work around that works for the time being
its in my thread at rog asus here is the link http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?23297-i-keep-getting-a-warning-in-event-viewer-hcmon-event-...
tim92655, thanks. For others, the fix is to disable the VMWare USB Arbitration Service, but see the link for details. I am not inclined to do this since I occasionally use a USB stick on my VM. Enjoy, John.
Hello jmrobles, I have the same laptop de ASUS k55Vm. And have done almost everything and am not able to use any USB devices.
I tried:
Update with the latest driver available the Intel xHCI driver.
uninstalling the Intel xHCI drivers and installed the ASmedia USB 3.0 drivers but not working. They don't even appear on control panel (device manager).
Tried with vmware workstation 8 and 9. I alse reinstalled the vmware.
Not availabe in BIOS the option to uncheck the USB 3.0.
I would appreciate anybody's help as I need to use the vmware for work.
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Thanks so much ale ale for your right answer.I have a same computer "asus K55VD",and appear problem"usb was in use…".When i uninstall all usb drivers from Drivers Control interface ,and reboot , install "Intel(R)_USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver" and ASmedia driver ,then VMwere can use the usb devices.
Thanks too much!
I find that this problem was solved after uninstall the usb3.0 driver.
but, i don't know the reason.
good luck !
I want to ask vmware this question: Can you make command line option to disable/stop this error notification.
I understand that windows need usb3 native support so VMware USB support to be good, but please make option that give you control over the notifications like that.
Thanks again.
About the actual error msg - you can stop it in several ways:
1. Disable usb 3.0 controller from BIOS.
2. Disable/uninstall USB3.0 device(ASmedia) from Device Manager.
3. Disable the VMware USB support ( vmware usb arbitration service ).
4. Make custom Event Log with filter
It's been 7 years since this post, and I'm having the exact problem now in 2019 ... i get the following errors in the event viewer each time I plug in our out a USB device ( See detail from Event Viewer below )
I'm running VMware Workstation 15 pro, latest version as of today ( 15.0.2 build-10952284 ), on an ASUS ROG GL702V Notebook, on Windows 10 64 bits latest build (17763).
Reading in ASUS' forums, the only solution that actually works is to disable the "VMWare USB Arbitration Service" , but that is not a real solution since it disables the possibility to attach USB devices to VM's.
Any ideas/suggestions?
