can not resume existing VM after upgrading to Fusion 11 on Mac Majove

Had Fusion 7 before, now just got 11 and trying to run it, get this error

can not open /dev/vmmon: broken pipe

please make sure kernel module vmmon is loaded

I can not resume or shutdown the VM I had, so I am kind of stuck.

any ideas?

on Mac Pro running Majove 10.14.2

never mind, I had to enable VMware to access system preferences in "Security & Privacy" to load.

rebooted and now it runs.
